Box CEO Aaron Levie Says 'Best Opportunities' In AI are Products That are 'Barely Only Possible' Today

Box Inc. (NYSE:BOX)/a> CEO Aaron Levie said the biggest artificial intelligence opportunities could come from products that are only barely feasible today but become transformative as AI capabilities and computing power improve.

Levie Urges AI Builders To Think Beyond Today

On Monday, in a post on X, Levie said rapidly advancing AI should push companies to think far beyond current technology limitations when developing new products.

"With rapidly accelerating AI progress, you should likely be building with a vision that contemplates at least a few orders of magnitude of capability improvement or token volume available to you," he said.

He argued that the strongest opportunities are products that can deliver value today while pursuing a much more ambitious long-term goal.

"The best opportunities right now are those where you can value to customers today with things that are barely only possible, but with a full mission that feels nearly impossible with today’s tech," Levie said.

He also pointed to products that require substantially more data processing.

AI’s Next Enterprise Phase

Last month, venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya said AI had entered a potential recursive self-improvement cycle, where AI systems could help build increasingly capable models.

"We are firmly in this loop now," said Palihapitiya, predicting that "the next 18 months will be wild" as capabilities rapidly improve and model costs potentially approach zero.

Meanwhile, Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO)/a> said enterprises were increasingly likely to deploy AI infrastructure on-premises and at the edge.
